From the desk of Jacqueline B. Smith:

The success of my greatest contribution to the creative landscape at St. John’s University, as Founder and former President of Red House was an arduous journey. Establishing Red House, from conception in 2003 to fruition in 2006, left me with only nine months to create an indelible impact. Formally an organization focused on constructing fashion, it occurred to me students would be better served with an organization that focused on the business, careers, and creative interests associated with fashion. The result: success. In a few short months, my team and I merged together the original principles on which our club stood with ideals complimentary to all students into a full-blown initiative, one that could contribute to a larger portion of the student body while providing an outlet for student designers. Possessing a strong foundation has supplied Red House with the resilience needed to secure an enduring legacy beyond our first fashion show in 2007. Although I am proud of my achievements, I maintain a greater sense of satisfaction knowing I have left behind an opportunity to provide student members with practical skills that go beyond the runway.

Today, I’m blessed to be able to continue my journey as a creative, working with some of the brightest minds in media as a Sr. Coordinator, Content & Design at BET Networks.

To all current, former, and future Red House members, remember to always live your life well: well dressed, well-spoken, and well respected.

The motto we follow here at Red House is...

"A Passion, A Interest, A Talent"
